Concrete Flatwork:
Driveways, Patios, and Slabs Built for Colorado

Fort August Foundations installs and replaces concrete flatwork for homes, businesses, and managed properties across Colorado's Front Range. From driveways and garage floors to patios, sidewalks, and decorative concrete, we prepare the base, manage drainage, place reinforcement where the project calls for it, and finish every slab for long-term performance.

Signs It Is Time to Repair or Replace Your Concrete

  • Wide or growing cracks
  • Sunken sections and uneven transitions
  • Standing water or drainage toward the building
  • Scaling, flaking, or exposed aggregate
  • Broken or missing control joints
  • Driveway panels rocking under vehicle loads
  • Steps or walkways creating a trip hazard
  • A patio or slab pulling away from the home

Our Concrete Flatwork Process

  1. Free on-site evaluation: We inspect the slab, surrounding grade, drainage, soil conditions, access, and the way the concrete will be used.
  2. Written scope and estimate: You receive the recommended repair or replacement plan, finish options, project timeline, and price before work begins.
  3. Site preparation: Our crew removes failed concrete when needed, excavates and compacts the base, sets forms, and plans drainage and elevations.
  4. Placement and finishing: We pour, reinforce, slope, joint, and finish the concrete for the selected application and appearance.
  5. Cleanup and care guidance: We remove forms and debris, restore disturbed areas, and explain curing and maintenance before the final walkthrough.

Why Property Owners Choose Fort August Foundations

Concrete lasts when the work below the surface is done correctly. Our team pays close attention to excavation, compaction, drainage, thickness, reinforcement, joints, and finish quality instead of treating the pour as the whole job. If settlement or foundation movement has damaged nearby areas, we can coordinate the related structural and restoration work through one point of contact.

Why Concrete Moves and Cracks on Colorado's Front Range

Colorado concrete is exposed to expansive clay, freeze-thaw cycles, intense sun, snowmelt, deicing salts, and fast changes between dry and wet weather. When the base is thin, poorly compacted, or holds water, slabs can settle, heave, crack, and create trip hazards.

That is why we evaluate drainage and soil conditions before recommending a repair. A slab that is still sound but has settled may be a candidate for leveling. Concrete with widespread cracking, poor reinforcement, severe scaling, or the wrong slope is often better replaced. We explain the tradeoffs before you decide.

Concrete Flatwork Services We Offer

Every slab has a different load, drainage requirement, and finish. We build the section, reinforcement, joint layout, slope, and surface around the way your concrete needs to perform.

Driveways and Garage Floors

New and replacement driveways, parking pads, aprons, and garage slabs built for vehicle loads, Colorado weather, and positive drainage. We plan transitions carefully so doors, curbs, sidewalks, and streets meet cleanly.

Patios and Decorative Concrete

Outdoor living surfaces in broom, stamped, textured, or colored finishes. We shape patios, steps, and walkways around your home and landscape while keeping drainage moving away from the foundation.

Sidewalks, Walkways, and Steps

Safe, even access around homes, multi-family properties, and commercial sites. We correct trip hazards, improve transitions, and replace failed sections with clean edges and durable finishes.

Slabs, Pads, and Concrete Repairs

Equipment pads, shed and hot-tub slabs, porch caps, small commercial slabs, and selective replacement where only part of a larger surface has failed. We also coordinate grading and drainage when water is contributing to the damage.

Is the slab still sound but sitting low? Compare replacement with our mudjacking and concrete leveling service. If the movement is tied to the building, learn about foundation repair.

Not Sure Whether to Repair, Level, or Replace?

Schedule a free, no-obligation evaluation. We will inspect the concrete and its base, explain the practical options, and provide a written estimate for the solution that fits the condition of your slab.

Concrete Flatwork FAQs

Should I repair, level, or replace my concrete?

Leveling can make sense when a slab is mostly intact but has settled. Replacement is usually the better value when concrete is badly cracked, deteriorated, too thin, poorly sloped, or no longer structurally sound. We inspect the slab and explain both options.

What types of concrete flatwork do you install?

We install and replace driveways, garage floors, patios, sidewalks, walkways, steps, parking pads, equipment pads, shed and hot-tub slabs, porch caps, and other residential or light-commercial flatwork.

How long does a concrete project take?

Many residential projects take several days for removal, preparation, placement, and initial curing. Size, access, weather, decorative finishes, and related drainage work can change the schedule. Your written estimate will include a realistic timeline.

When can I walk or drive on new concrete?

Foot traffic is often possible after a short initial cure, while vehicles require more time. Conditions and mix design matter, so we provide project-specific guidance before you use the surface.

Do you install stamped or colored concrete?

Yes. Decorative options may include stamped patterns, integral or surface color, texture, and coordinated borders. Availability depends on the project and season, and we review samples before installation.

How do you help prevent future cracking?

Concrete cannot be guaranteed never to crack, but good excavation, a compacted base, proper thickness, reinforcement, planned control joints, drainage, placement, and curing all reduce the risk and help control where normal shrinkage occurs.

Can you fix drainage around a driveway or patio?

Yes. We evaluate slope and surrounding grade, and we can coordinate grading or drainage work when water is contributing to settlement or sending runoff toward the foundation.

Do you remove and haul away the old concrete?

When replacement is part of the scope, demolition, loading, hauling, and site cleanup are included in the written plan so you know exactly what the project covers.

Do you work on commercial and multi-family properties?

Yes. We work with property owners, managers, HOAs, builders, and general contractors on concrete repairs and new flatwork, with scheduling and documentation suited to occupied sites.
